Il padrino – Paramount Channel ore 23:00
Primo capitolo di una delle saghe cinematografiche più importanti e conosciute di sempre. La avventure malavitose della famiglia Corleone, con i suoi splendidi interpreti ( Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall ) e diretta dalla macchina inconfondibile di Francis Ford Coppola, hanno creato una sorta di riferimento nel cinema di quei prosperosi anni settanta, oltre che un personaggio, quello di Don Vito Corleone, che a tutti gli effetti è ancora oggi un’icona non solo del genere ma di tutto il cinema in generale. Imperdibile.

Martedì 3 maggio
La classe operaia va in paradiso – Iris ore 23:25
Elio Petri e Gian Maria Volontè ancora insieme per un’altra pellicola, un anno dopo il capolavoro Indagine su di un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto, di grande potenza sul rapporto tra l’uomo e il lavoro. Ludovico lavora in una azienda metallurgica. Convinto sostenitore del lavoro a cottimo, diventa esempio di produttività e impegno, manifestando uno stacanovismo e un conseguente distaccamento dalla società d’altri tempi. Qualcosa però andrà storto e porterà Ludovico verso una diversa visione della sua vita. Film che mette al centro della scena la vita operaia, creando una storia di forte impatto sociale e politico che ancora oggi, al di là dei cambiamenti e delle evoluzioni alle quali abbiamo assistito in oltre quarant’anni, ha ancora la forza di far riflettere di porre questioni su tematiche di primaria importanza.

Il miglio verde – Iris ore 21:00
Intenso film di ambientazione carceraria, racconta le vicende di un blocco E, il braccio della morte, dove, negli anni trenta americani, venivano detenuti i prigionieri in attesa di sentenza di morte. Il responsabile, Paul (Tom Hanks), insieme ai suoi colleghi, sorvegliano i detenuti fino all’ultimo miglio verde, un corridoio che li porta sulla sedia elettrica. Affascinante storia che mette di fronte, tra ambiguità e senso e morale, il bene e il male, la pietà e il cinismo. Grande forza emotiva e un impatto visivo che in alcune scene, tra realtà e finzione, incantano lo spettatore. Una storia avvincente per emozionarsi e riflettere.

Giovedì 5 maggio
Papà diventa nonno – Tv2000 ore 21.00
La pellicola è il seguito de “Il padre della sposa”, dello stesso regista Minelli e con gli stessi attori protagonisti. Come per il suo predecessore è sempre Spencer Tracy a fungere da motore trainante della pellicola, che pur mantenendosi briosa e divertente, accusa il ripetersi di alcune idee del primo episodio. Tracy, nei panni del sig. Banks, si trova ad affrontare la crisi di mezza età e fatica ad accettare l’idea di diventare presto nonno. Ottimo finale.

Venerdì 6 maggio
La valle dell’eden – Tv2000 ore 21.00
Tratto dall’omonimo romanzo di John Steinbeck, segna il debutto cinematografico di James Dean, diretto da un grande Elia Kazan. Forte dramma familiare, che tra invidie e complicati rapporti ricorda la parabola di Caino e Abele. E’ probabilmente la miglior interpretazione di James Dean, che interpreta il giovane Cal, ragazzo tormentato, cresciuto senza la madre e senza l’affetto del padre. Tra passioni e forti contrasti, il film regala molte emozioni.

Una 44 magnum per l’ispettore Callaghan – Rete4 ore 23:10
Secondo film della serie dedicata ad uno degli ispettori più conosciuti del cinema, Una 44 magnum per l’ispettore Callaghan è una grande classico del cinema poliziesco, interpretato da un cupo Clint Eastwood, agente di polizia fuori dagli schemi che, a suo modo, segue la sua strada e una morale del tutto singolare. Callaghan, sospeso dalla polizia a causa dei modi un po’ eversivi, viene in contatto con quattro agenti che impongono la loro giustizia. Violenza e azione, una regia elegante e una serie di immagini grintose ad alto tasso di spettacolarità. Per appassionati del genere e per chi è particolarmente affezionato a quella gamma di personaggi dal grilletto facile.

Domenica 8 maggio
Bersaglio di notte – Iris ore 23.20
Film da cast stellare. Dalla giovanissima Melanie Griffith, all’epoca sedicenne, a Gene Hackman, passando per James Wood. Ed è proprio la prova degli attori – Hackman in una delle sue migliori prove – ad alzare il livello di una pellicola che altrimenti sarebbe stata archiviata solamente come un buon thriller. Penn parte bene, sia nello spunto che nell’attenta sceneggiatura, ma l’ottimo inizio è poi mal supportato dal passare dei minuti. La pellicola si trascina cosi faticosamente verso la fine, con poche risorse ancora in canna per destare l’interesse dello spettatore. Notevole invece la caratterizzazione del personaggio del detective, smarrito ed in lotta con se stesso, incapace di districarsi nei suoi problemi. È la sua figura a farla da padrone, molto più della trama stessa.
